Description
The Dead Stick Baits Budgie Smuggler 5″ is a full-bodied paddle tail swimbait designed to combine a strong baitfish profile with plenty of swimming action and water displacement.
Featuring a ribbed mid-section, streamlined baitfish body and large boot-style paddle tail, the Budgie Smuggler is built to come alive on a steady retrieve. Ribbed paddle-tail designs are widely used because the combination of body texture and a kicking tail creates vibration and swimming movement through the water, while remaining effective across different retrieve speeds.
The large paddle tail generates a noticeable kick as the bait moves, making the 5-inch Budgie Smuggler an excellent option when bass are actively feeding on baitfish or when you need a presentation with enough movement to help fish locate the lure.
Its versatile profile gives anglers plenty of rigging options. Fish it on a weighted swimbait hook or jighead, rig it weedless around vegetation and cover, or use it as a trailer on a swim jig or vibrating jig. These are proven applications for similarly shaped 5″ paddle-tail soft plastics.
Whether you’re slow-rolling it through deeper water, swimming it along grass lines or covering open water in search of active bass, the Budgie Smuggler delivers a straightforward swimming baitfish presentation with plenty of tail action.
